We're upgrading to a more contemporary accounting system. All activity statement and franking deficit tax accounts will move into the same system that we use for income tax processing.
This change, called Activity statement financial processing, will improve our digital services and deliver a reliable and contemporary experience for you. It also provides us with a foundation for future improvements.
To minimise disruptions, we will start the upgrade during our December annual closure. Some of our systems will be unavailable while we make changes, including ATO Online Services and the Business Portal. If you will need to lodge or report during this time, lodge on time or early to avoid delays.
Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting will still be available for employers, but won't be processed or displayed until our systems are back up and running.
After the change, sole traders will see a number of new improvements and functions in ATO online services via myGov including:
What you can do through the Business Portal won’t change, however lodgment due dates will include any electronic lodgment concessions.
