  • Working for yourself?

    31 May 2016

If you work for yourself and earn income from your personal efforts or skills, you may be earning personal services income (PSI).

If you do earn PSI, you will need to complete certain questions in your tax return and the deductions you can claim may be affected.

The easiest way to find out if you’re earning PSI and what to do next is to use our PSI tool.

    You can access the tool:

    • on our website, or
    • through our online services for individuals where you can save and submit your results. These results will complete some of the PSI questions on your tax return, saving you time.

Be prepared for tax time and use the tool before lodging your return this year.
