  • Single touch payroll for small employers

    If your NFP has 19 or fewer employees you will need to start reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP) between 1 July and 30 September 2019. This means you report your employees' tax and superannuation information to us each time you pay them.

    We have made the following resources available to assist you with your transition to STP, including a:

    Micro employers

    If your NFP has between 1 - 4 employees and don't currently use payroll software, there are other ways to report STP information, such as:

    • Implementing a No-cost and low-cost solution for Single Touch Payroll which can include simple payroll software, mobile phone apps and portals.
    • Working with a registered tax or BAS agent - you can report your STP information quarterly at the same time you lodge your business activity statements, rather than each payday. Your tax or BAS agent will still need to report your STP information through a STP-ready solution and this option is only available until 30 June 2021.

    The benefit of reporting through STP by the due date, is that your NFP no longer need to provide a payment summary to your employees or the ATO for amounts reported and finalised through STP.
