  • Franking credit refund pilot

A group of 200 not-for-profit (NFP) organisations will participate in a franking credit refund pilot that aims to improve the process for lodgment and processing of applications for the 2018–19 financial year.

Participants for this pilot have already been selected and will be notified in mid-June 2019.

    How the automated process works

Participants in the pilot will automatically receive a refund of any franking credit they are entitled to for the 2018–19 financial year without lodging an application.

Each year, share registries and other providers are required to report dividends and franking credits to us. We receive this information from 1 July onwards and will use it to work out pilot participant refunds.

Refunds will be paid into the organisation’s bank account, as dividend and franking credit information is reported.

    Getting help

If you're participating in the pilot and you have any questions, you can phone us on the not-for-profit help line 1300 130 248 between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday

As the pilot progresses, we'll provide updates and seek your feedback about the process. The aim is to learn as much as possible from the pilot so we can expand the concept to more participants in future years.
