Contribution standard v2.0 update: B2B scope and conformance date

In CRT Alert 003/2017 issued on 18 January 2017, we provided information about implementing the contribution standard v2.0, including compliance dates.  From May 2017 the ATO will begin paying government contributions to super funds in the SuperStream standard. This continues our work with industry to ensure all rollovers and contributions across industry and between government and industry are conducted within the SuperStream standard.

We also noted that we had consulted with industry and adjusted the scope of contributions v2.0 for business-to-business (B2B) transactions to include only error response messaging for refunds, including the payment reference number. This scope still applies.

Based on a review of industry readiness and feedback, we have extended the compliance date for B2B contributions v2.0 from 1 May to 31 August 2017 to align with the compliance date for government-to-business contributions. The date for implementing B2B error response messaging will not be extended further and non-compliance will be considered a reportable breach after 31 August 2017.

All RSE Licensees must implement the contribution standard v2.0External Link as follows:

    • business-to-business (B2B) transactions by 31 August 2017
    • government-to-business (G2B) contributions by 31 August 2017.

B2B error response messaging is depicted in the blue row labelled 'contributions'. Funds that have not implemented B2B error response messaging by 31 August 2017 must report this to APRA as a breach.
