• CRT Alert 037/2017

    17 May 2017

We're talking to your members about super changes

We will soon communicate with your members who may be affected by the superannuation changes starting 1 July 2017. From now until June, your members may receive a letter, email or SMS from us outlining key changes to their super.

This means you may get more member enquiries than usual. We’re providing you with copies of the templates we're using for our correspondence to your members so you can prepare for those enquiries.

During the week beginning 22 May, we will send the first batch of correspondence to your members affected by:

    • changes to the superannuation non-concessional (after tax) contributions cap
    • the reduction of the concessional (pre-tax) contributions cap to $25,000 per annum
    • the introduction of a transfer balance cap of $1.6 million for pension-phase accounts
    • total superannuation balance changes

In coming weeks, we’ll issue correspondence about:

    • the transfer balance cap for child recipients
    • the transfer balance cap for defined benefit accounts.

We’ve provided templates of the correspondence for your reference. You can also request copies of these templates by emailing the Superannuation Client Relationship Team.

We will update you about future correspondence over the coming weeks.
