    USM remittance run problems

    Funds have reported problems with the unclaimed superannuation money (USM) remittance run during the week beginning 15 May 2017.

    This problem was caused by an accounting issue in our USM processing system, which we are thoroughly investigating.

    Funds have received correct payments but some have not received data messages, and for others the data message is incorrect.

    We have identified two options available to deal with these issues in the short term.

    Option 1: We can arrange to send you manually corrected data messages via the data transfer facility (DTF) so you can process these payments. If this option is suitable for you, please contact Super CRT and we can arrange this.

    Option 2: We appreciate option 1 will not suit all funds. If you are in this situation, you should reject the messages and return the payments to the SuperStream bank account. Please notify Super CRT when you return the payments and, where possible, include the payment reference numbers or conversation IDs. We will correct the information and resend the messages and payments in the next available USM remittance run.

    We can confirm that letters sent from the ATO to your members include the correct payment amounts.

    We have also provided updated information on this issue to our call centre staff so they can help your members if they contact the ATO's call centre.

    We will postpone our next USM remittance run scheduled for next week so we can fix the problem. We will provide you with an update on this issue and the date for the next USM run as soon as possible.
