USM remittance and government contributions BDV update

Further to the USM update in CRT Alert 38/2017, we can confirm that the accounting issue we experienced with the most recent USM remittance run was specific to USM and USM accounts and will not affect government contribution payments.

The next USM remittance run will be in the week beginning 12 June. However, in response to industry concerns about processing backlog volumes we may schedule ad hoc daily runs during the week beginning 5 June.

Funds and gateways are reporting successful contributions testing in our external vendor testing environment (EVTE) and that our government contributions messaging is sound. On this basis we are proceeding with the controlled business deployment verification (BDV) exercise, which will begin next week.

    The BDV exercise will:

    • confirm end-to-end receipt and processing of government contributions including low income superannuation contribution (LISC), co-contributions, superannuation holding account (SHA) and super guarantee (SG) payments and recovery processes
    • confirm existing services and transactions for industry and ATO are not affected by the government contribution release
    • confirm that issues experienced during the G2B USM rollovers release have been addressed for contributions payments, and
    • provide assurance that moving to full production for government contribution payments will not introduce any new irritants or manual effort for ATO or industry.

BDV will run throughout June when we will make a decision on whether to proceed with full deployment and notify you of the decision. We are conscious of the number of issues identified through the USM rollovers release and want to assure you that the ATO will not make this decision without a full and proper review of BDV outcomes.

Contributions implementation working group meetings will continue during this period to keep you updated on BDV progress.

    LISC recovery run rescheduled

Please note the LISC recovery process previously scheduled for 8 June has been brought forward and you will now start to receive files from Monday 29 May 2017. Details of the next run will be published in the June Super Communique.
