    19 June 2017

    Visa information for DASP applications

From 26 June 2017 departing Australia superannuation payment (DASP) applicants can enter their visa information in the DASP online application system. This means super funds will receive visa information in DASP applications, where applicable.

Even though super funds may be able to view visa information for applications lodged from 26 June 2017, the DASP Working Holiday Maker (WHM) tax rate can only apply (where applicable) for payments made on or after 1 July 2017.

For DASP online applications received before 26 June 2017 which remain unprocessed by 30 June 2017, and require visa information, the ATO will conduct a one-off process to provide super funds with this information sourced from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

We will use the data transfer facility (DTF), sometimes called Bulk Data Exchange (BDE) to provide you with this visa information.

    What you need to do

    • Download the visa information template.
    • Complete one template for each ABN.
    • Ensure all fields are completed as we need these details to obtain visa information from DIBP. Incomplete templates will be returned to you.
    • Upload completed templates to the DTF by close of business 14 July 2017.
    • Once you have sent the template, email SuperCRT@ato.gov.au with 'DASP WHM transition' in the subject field.
    • When your authorised user/s receives a notification email from us you will need to download the file from DTF for the visa information.

    What we will do

    • We will provide you with visa information for the applicants you supplied in the template by 28 July 2017.
    • We will identify applicants who have only held a WHM visa or have held both WHM and other visas. Applicants who have never held a WHM visa will not appear in the returned file.
    • We will notify your authorised user/s via email when the file is ready to download from the DTF.

This process is only for DASP applications received via the DASP online system.

For paper applications, you can contact the applicant directly and ask them to provide visa information.
