    27 June 2017

Process DASP applications before 1 July

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has notified us that some funds are not processing departing Australia superannuation payment (DASP) applications because the Immigration Certificate issued by DIBP did not include all visa information for the applicant.

Visa information is not required to process DASP applications until 1 July 2017. Funds receiving DIBP immigration certificates should continue to process DASP applications using existing procedures until 30 June 2017.

You should finalise applications where possible by 30 June to avoid your members being impacted by the higher tax rate applicable from 1 July for working holiday makers.

Immigration Certificates from the DIBP will contain visa information where the applicant is a working holiday maker (WHM), which is someone who held a 417, 462 or an associated bridging visa. Only WHM visas will be displayed, non-WHM visas will not be included on the Immigration Certificate.

Applicants, who are not WHM, will not have visa information shown on the immigration certificate.

The DASP paper application form (NAT 7204) has been updated to include visa information.
