Recent communication to fund trustees – planning for 30 June account balance reporting in MATS

Recently, we wrote out to fund trustees to advise them of the successful on-boarding of large APRA regulated superannuation funds onto the ATO Member Account Attribute Service (MAAS) and the ATO Member Account Transaction Service (MATS) and to congratulate the industry on this remarkable achievement.

The shift away from annual aggregated reporting via the Member Contributions Statement (MCS) to transactional reporting through MAAS and MATS is a significant change and has required detailed planning and cooperation.

With this in mind, we have asked trustees through that letter to provide information to us in preparation for the first annual MATS reporting event, the reporting of 30 June accounts balances by 31 October 2019.

The requested information will assist us to understand what the MATS annual reporting volumes will look like over the July 2019 – October 2019 period. Once we have that we can consider whether an orchestrated approach is required to ensure a smooth process for this first year. We have asked trustees to provide the requested information be returned to the Super Stream Standards mailbox prior to 31 May 2019.
