Annual member accounts transaction service reporting for grandfathered accounts (2018-2019 financial year)

If your member has a change of their grandfathering status for the 2018-19 financial year, please ensure the attributes reported on the members’ Member account attribute service (MAAS) are correct.

If the status needs to be changed, you will need to lodge a MAAS update prior to lodging your 2018-19 annual MATS. The value in effect after 31 October 2019 will be used to determine excess contributions and additional contributions tax for Division 293 for the 2018-19 financial year.

If your members’ grandfathering value will change in the 2019 -20 financial year, we ask that you do not update their grandfathering status prior to 1 January 2020. We recognise that additional reporting instructions are required for the 2019-20 financial year onwards.

We will be convening a small working group soon to determine these ongoing reporting requirements.

    Next steps:

    • To modify the grandfathering status for the 2017-18 financial year, follow the instructions previously outlined in CRT Alert 025/2019.
