  • Improving flexibility for older Australians

As part of the Superannuation – improving flexibility for older Australians measure, from 1 July 2020 the draft regulations allow your members to:

    • make voluntary concessional and non-concessional super contributions without meeting the work test if they are younger than 67
    • receive spouse contributions if they are 75 years old or younger.

Your members must still meet all other eligibility criteria. They can use ATO online services to view some of these, including their total super balance, existing bring forward arrangements and unused concessional contributions.

A proposed change, to enable members to bring forward up to three years of non-concessional contributions if they are younger than 67 (rather than 65), is currently before parliament in the Treasury Laws Amendment (More Flexible Superannuation) Bill 2020.
