  • Delaying SMSs for SMSF changes

We recently published the article SMSs for SMSFs (now say that three times!) advising members and trustees of self-managed super funds (SMSF) that from 30 November 2019 they would start receiving alert messages when changes were made to their SMSF details.

The SMS and email alert system is designed to protect SMSF trustees, members, and directors from potential fraud and misconduct. The system has been designed to issue an SMS and email when certain details are updated.

However, in final testing of the alert system, an issue was detected which may have lead to some alerts not issuing as designed. As a result, to avoid disruption or concern for SMSF trustees, members, and directors we have decided to delay the deployment until we can ensure the alert system is operating as intended.

No alerts have been sent to trustees to date.

We anticipate that this issue will be resolved quickly and we'll advise the new date when the alert messages will start going out.

Changes that are made to SMSF details will continue to be monitored through our normal activities.
