  • Trustee disqualification register – quarterly update published

In our role as regulator of SMSFs, we can disqualify an individual from being a trustee (or director of a corporate trustee) of a self-managed super fund (SMSF) if:

    • they don't comply with the super law, or
    • we are concerned about their suitability to be a trustee.

We keep a register of individuals we have disqualified from being a trustee since 2012 on our website, and we recently published an update to our register to include the March 2022 quarter.

For the 2021–22 income year, we have already disqualified 170 individuals.

The information on the disqualified trustees register is publicly available and includes the individual's name, location, date of disqualification and details of the formal notice of disqualification that was published in the Commonwealth Government Gazette.

The register is regularly checked by SMSF professionals, including SMSF auditors, to see if an individual has been disqualified by us.
