  • Tax Time 2019 and more – webcast recording available

The recording of our Tax professionals conversations webcast held on Wednesday 5 June is ready to view.

Our panel, including Assistant Commissioners Colin Walker, Karen Foat and John Shepherd, with a representative from the tax profession discussed:

    • Tax Time 2019, including our focus on substantiation and correct claiming of work-related car, clothing and other expenses. Work-related claims are the primary contributor to the $8.7billion income tax gap for individuals-not-in-business.
    • changes for your employer and employee clients due to Single Touch Payroll, such as new income statements for employees. We encourage you to lodge your clients' returns when their information is finalised and marked as 'Tax ready'.
    • how you need to check Communication history in Online services for agents, or the Client communication list in the tax and BAS agent portals to monitor correspondence we send to your clients who have a myGov account.
    • the expansion of the taxable payments reporting system (TPRS) which from 1 July 2019 applies to businesses providing road freight, IT and security, investigation or surveillance services.
