    From 1 July 2017 we have received approximately 45,768 inbound calls to general queues and 6,483 to tax practitioner queues and achieved service commitments of:

    • General taxpayer calls – 81% of calls answered within 5 minutes
    • Tax practitioner calls – 85% of calls answered within 2 minutes.

    Changes to activity statements

    We have made changes to some Tax Agent Portal and BAS Agent Portal screens and functions. These changes include enhanced functionality for activity statements and take advantage of the Simpler BAS reporting changes.

    The issue with the Document Identification Number not being visible on the activity statement has been corrected.

    Use the tax agent and BAS agent fast key codes to find the right phone number for the topic you need to phone us about and receive priority service in our contact centres.

    The ATO will have a focus on claims relating to work related expenses. A limited release of Single Touch Payroll began for a small number of employers on 1 July 2017.
