  • Pre-filling service

    The pre-filling service helps to ensure the accuracy of returns by allowing you to cross-check information provided by your clients, with information that we hold.

    Pre-filling information is available through Online services for agents, the Tax Agent Portal and the practitioner lodgment service (PLS).

    The pre-filling service 2019 includes the following updates and new data:

    • business transactions through payment systems
    • personal superannuation contribution deductions
    • first home super saver scheme
    • cleaners and couriers payment information included in the Taxable payments annual report
    • early stage innovation company
    • pay as you go payment summaries or income statements reported through Single Touch Payroll will show a status of finalised or un-finalised
    • an ATO interest new message refers to recurring data issues information on when adjustments may need to be made to the pre-filled amount
    • label edit in the Tax Agent Portal reflected in partnership distributions
    • a private health insurance statement message indicating health insurers are not required to send private health insurance statements to clients unless requested
    • item D10 'Cost of managing tax affairs' prior year amount will report the total of the split sub components – a new message was added to refer to your client's prior year tax return through Online services for agents, lodgment history.

    Note: The pre-filling service only reflects the information received by us at the date you request the data.

    We expect most pre-filling information to be available by mid-August.
