    The quickest and easiest way to check the progress of your tax is by using one of our online search options.

    Most lodgments submitted electronically generally take two weeks to process however; some lodgments require manual processing and may take up to a month to issue.

    You can't speed up this process, even if you call us.

    Our services provide information about the tax returns of individuals only, not of companies, trusts or partnerships.

    Using your tax file number, you can conduct a quick searchExternal Link to check on the progress of your original individual tax return lodged for the latest financial year. This search tool is also available in the ATO app.

    Complete online search

    If you have a myGov account linked to the ATO you can check the progress of your lodged individual income tax returns and amendments, and view your lodgment history for:

    • the current year
    • prior financial years.

    Our self-help service provides information on original tax returns lodged for the latest financial year:

    • phone 13 28 61 and choose option 2 then option 1
    • enter your tax file number.

    If you're enquiring about a tax return which is not for the most recent financial year, you can ask one of our customer service representatives to conduct a search of all your lodged tax returns or amendments.

    If you do not speak English well and need help from the ATO, phone the Translating and Interpreting Service on 13 14 50.

    If you are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment, phone the ATO through the National Relay Service (NRS) on the numbers listed below:
