    The final JobMaker period ended on 6 October 2022. Claims for eligible employees employed during this period need to be made before 31 January 2023 with STP reporting for the period due on 28 January 2023.

    Register for JobMaker Hiring Credit

    Eligible employers can register for the JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme from 6 December 2020.

    Employers must register by the due date for the first JobMaker period they are claiming for. Check the key dates for registration, reporting and claiming for each JobMaker period.

    Once registered, eligible employers can claim the JobMaker Hiring Credit payment for each JobMaker period. You can make a claim for the first JobMaker period from 1 February 2021. Payments are made in arrears. To check your eligibility, see Eligible employers.

    To complete their registration for the JobMaker Hiring Credit, employers must provide their:

    • baseline headcount
    • baseline payroll amount
    • contact details.

    This information can be provided through either:

    Who cannot register

    You cannot register if any of the following apply. You:

    • do not have an active Australian business number (ABN)
    • had the Major Bank Levy imposed on you or a member of your consolidated group for any quarter on or before 30 September 2020
    • are an Australian government agency (within the meaning of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997)
    • are a local governing body
    • are wholly owned by an Australian government agency or a local governing body
    • are a sovereign entity
    • are a company in liquidation or provisional liquidation
    • are an individual who has entered bankruptcy.

    Timing of registration

    Employers will need to register before making a claim for JobMaker Hiring Credit payments. You do not need to be registered before you hire eligible employees.

    You can register at any time before the end of the claim period.

    Registration process

    Businesses with an active ABN can access the registration on ATO online services or Online services for business.

    Under 'JobMaker Hiring Credit payment', you can find information and step-by-step instructions about:

    • registration
    • how to nominate your employees
    • how to claim
    • payments.

    Once you have registered you will see a confirmation page with a receipt ID. We suggest you print this page or save it for your records.

    The confirmation page will also:

    • outline the next steps
    • provide links to help you make sure your lodgment obligations are up to date.

    If you make a claim but are ineligible to receive JobMaker Hiring Credit payments (in full or in part), we will notify you in writing.
