• 3. Review of ATO consultative arrangements

Sue Sinclair updated members on the progress of the ATO’s review of consultative arrangements. She informed members that the new consultative arrangements are currently being put in place. Central to the new arrangements is a consultation and engagement framework that works at three levels:

    • Stewardship committees – there will be eight stewardship committees that will deal with high level and significant issues of national interest
    • Stakeholder relationships and management engagements – these will develop and maintain key relationships for the smooth running of the tax and superannuation systems
    • Technical and special purpose consultation – these will focus on timely attention to the right matters, engaging with the right people and working toward the best conclusion in the national interest.

As a result of this review, the Large Business Advisory Group has been renamed the Large Business Liaison Group (LBLG) and is now one of the eight key stewardship committees.

Members were advised that a consultation homepage will be established on ato.gov.au which will include information on the consultative framework including the issues being discussed in these forums and how business, industry groups and the community can raise issues for discussion.

Members indicated their support for the new consultative arrangements.

    Action item:
