• Administered expenses

We administer various grants, benefits, tax offsets and programs, sometimes in conjunction with other government agencies, to administer a range of government policies. In 2010-11 administered expenses decreased by $895 million or 10.6% on 2009-10.

The largest expense for 2010-11 was the fuel tax credit payment of $5.1 billion. Other fuel schemes, including the product stewardship for oil program, cleaner fuels grants scheme, and energy grants credit scheme totalled $67 million.

    In 2010-11 we:

    • made the first payments totalling $3 million, to participants in the National Rental Affordability Scheme
    • administered $926 million in expenses assisting families and individual taxpayers
    • made superannuation co-contribution payments of $749 million, providing a mechanism to support the superannuation savings of lower income individuals.
