• Access to ABR data

    Use of the 'ABN lookup' facility continues to grow. The number of monthly searches through the service during the year peaked at 21.5 million. On average, there were 15 million searches a month to verify details of businesses, up 55% on 2009-10.

    Access to ABR data became easier for existing partners with the introduction of a bulk data exchange facility in early 2010-2011. This new service allows agencies to download ABR data via a secure online mailbox. The number of bulk data extracts issued to agencies by disc and by the bulk data exchange secure online mailbox grew significantly to around 800 in 2010-11, 59% up on 2009-10.

    We also released ABR Report Mart - a new service allowing partner agencies to access useful reports and measure business trends.

    Local government agencies continue to be large consumers of ABR data and services, with many now receiving data filtered to their postcode, a new service we introduced last year. Seventy-seven per cent of local government partner agencies now receive a postcode-filtered extract.

    We continued to develop and refine the ABR data query tool, a free software product that gives agencies the ability to run searches and data queries without the expense of developing their own systems or software. Some 145 agencies now have the data query tool and 82 are active users. Throughout the year we conducted training sessions with 15 local councils, helping them to understand how the ABR data query tool can analyse and extract data relevant to their local government area.
