    You can save time by dealing with us online. Most of your business reporting and transactions can be done online using:

    • the Business Portal
    • Standard Business Reporting (SBR) enabled accounting software.

    In most cases you'll need an ABNExternal Link and a myGovIDExternal Link before you can use these tools.

    If you're a sole trader, you can prepare, lodge and pay your activity statements using our online services for individuals and sole traders. All you need is a myGov account linked to the ATO.

    Business Portal

    Most of your business reporting can be done using the Business Portal. It's the main tool for businesses to manage their tax and deal with us online.

    You can use the Business Portal to:

    • lodge your activity statements
    • add or cancel registrations, such as PAYG withholding
    • check your tax account balance
    • request transfers and refunds
    • make payments
    • update your business registration details
    • send and receive mail through a secure mailbox.

    SBR is an online record-keeping standard that simplifies business reporting obligations.

    SBR-enabled business accounting software can automatically prepare and lodge reports, forms and statements for your business.

    When you have SBR-enabled accounting software, it can interact with us using online (cloud) software or a machine credential.
