BSWAT Payment Scheme

The Business Services Wage Assessment Tool (BSWAT) Payment Scheme provides a one-off lump sum payment to eligible employees, whose pay was worked out using the tool while working for an Australian disability enterprise (ADE) between 1 January 2004 and 28 May 2014.

The scheme is administered by the Department of Social Services and you must register if you want to receive the payment. To find out if you're eligible and how to register and apply, visit BSWAT Payment Scheme processThis link opens in a new window or phone the BSWAT Hotline on 1800 799 515.

Depending on when you apply, you may receive the payment in one of four financial years: 2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18 or 2018–19. The lump sum payment may be for more than one year of your supported employment but you are taxed in the year you receive it

If you receive the BSWAT Payment Scheme lump sum, you may need to lodge a paper tax return. This will depend on how much income you received during the financial year.
