Amendments to be moved on behalf of the Government

OUTLINE

These amendments introduce new commencement dates for Schedule 1 of the Social Services Legislation Amendment (Overseas Welfare Recipients Integrity Program) Bill 2019.

Government amendments

NOTES ON AMENDMENTS

Amendment 1 amends the commencement date of Parts 1 and 2 of Schedule 1. Part 1 of Schedule 1 commences on 1 October 2019 if the Act receives Royal Assent before 19 September 2019. Where the Act receives Royal Assent on or after 19 September 2019, Part 1 of this Schedule will commence on the day three months after the Act receives Royal Assent.

Part 2 of Schedule 1 is amended to commence on the later of 20 March 2020 and immediately after the commencement of Part 1 of Schedule 1.
