Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956
In this regulation:
commencement time
means the commencement of the
Customs (Prohibited Imports) Amendment (Sports Shooters and Other Measures) Regulations 2026
.
Sports shooters amendments
24(2)
The amendments of these Regulations made by Part 1 of Schedule 1 to the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Amendment (Sports Shooters and Other Measures) Regulations 2026 apply in relation to: (a) any application for permission to import goods into Australia made at or after the commencement time; and (b) any application for permission to import goods into Australia made before the commencement time that has not been finally decided; and (c) any documentation given at or after that commencement to facilitate the importation of goods into Australia; and (d) any documentation given before the commencement time to facilitate the importation of goods into Australia, where the goods are imported into Australia on or after the commencement time.
Category H article amendments
24(3)
Subregulation (4) applies in relation to goods (the category H article) if the category H article: (a) is a handgun manufactured before 1 January 1900; and (b) was imported on or after 21 January 2026 but before the commencement time; and (c) is, at the commencement time, in the possession of an officer of Customs.
24(4)
The amendments of these Regulations made by Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Amendment (Sports Shooters and Other Measures) Regulations 2026 are taken to have applied to the category H article at the time of its importation.
