Superannuation – CRT Alert 030/2013

Dear Members / Administrators / Trustees ,

Using paper member contributions statements (MCS)

We encourage all funds to use our MCS electronic reporting specification , however some funds have not yet developed an electronic reporting capability. The Super member contributions statement for 2012-13 and later financial years (Nat 74656) has now been published on our website to allow for paper lodgments. Its use is restricted to funds with:

· 20 or fewer members that cannot lodge electronically, or

· ATO permission to use paper MCS forms in limited circumstances (including those large funds transitioning away from reliance upon SuperReport who have sought our permission to use paper for small numbers of MCS amendments).

You will notice we have improved the form so that it is easier to complete for those using it in an electronic environment. The improved format allows you to complete forms online before saving an electronic copy for your records, printing the form and posting it to us. Completion by hand in the usual way remains possible too.

There are now three MCS forms that you need to be aware of if you are still using paper forms and are permitted to do so:

· When reporting or amending for the 2012-13 and later financial years, use the form Super member contributions statement for 2012-13 and later financial years (NAT 74656).

· When reporting or amending for the financial years between 2007-08 and 2011-12, use the Super member contribution statement (NAT 71334).

· When reporting or amending for the financial years between 1996-97 and 2006-07, use both How to complete the Superannuation member contributions statement (NAT 2603) and Superannuation member contributions statement (NAT 2710).

All of these paper forms may be accessed here .
