Help to get you back on track

Last updated 4 September 2023

Delivered by Beyond Blue, NewAccess for Small Business Owners program (NASBO)External Link is a free self-help mental health program run by coaches with a small business background. The program consists of 6 tailored and practical sessions, including a follow up to check you’re staying on track.

Recently, we spoke with small business owner and NASBO participant Arlene Mack, who discussed how the program helped her work through some recent difficult times in her cruise business.

When the Australian government extended the Biosecurity Act in December 2021 to ban entry of large international cruise ships into our waters, Arlene knew she'd need mental health support. She reached out to Beyond Blue and signed up for the NASBO program in January 2022.

‘It was a terrific help to me. I learned about coping tools and techniques I could use to help me keep going mentally. I had a wonderful coach and did the course over the phone.

‘Each week, I'd complete some homework and apply new techniques to my business.

‘I encourage you to contact NewAccess to get the help you need if you're going through a mentally or financially difficult time with your business.

‘We all need support and hope for the future, and NewAccess gave me both,’ Arlene said.
