Electronic lodgment service – tax agents
Business Reporting (SBR) will replace the electronic lodgment service (ELS). To
ensure tax professionals have access to a reliable electronic
lodgment service, we will extend the
transition period and maintain ELS until 31 March 2017. This approach will
provide a safety net during the transition. Together with software developers, we are committed to ensuring
the new SBR-enabled practitioner lodgment service (PLS) is the primary and default lodgment channel in Tax Time 2016.
ELS will remain available with forms and services for Tax Time 2014 and 2015.
ELS is an electronic online system that enables registered tax agents to lodge income tax returns and other forms, as well as create reports to assist with managing workloads. Benefits of registering and using the ELS include:
- reduction in paper use
- accuracy – through edit checks within your software
- choice of software providers
- faster turnaround time on electronically-lodged forms
- 24-hour access
- acknowledgment of lodgment.
The ELS supports a variety of different form types and schedules. The type of information you can transmit is only limited by the form types in your software package.
