If you are a tax professional, AUSkey is your single key to securely access participating government online services. Your AUSkey allows you to access:
- Tax Agent Portal
- BAS Agent Portal
- Business Portal
- the practitioner lodgment service (PLS) – if you are a desktop software user
- Electronic Commerce Interface (ECI)
- Australian Business Register (ABR)
If you are an Administrator AUSkey holder, you can register other people for AUSkeys and view, update and cancel any AUSkey associated with your practice.
Tips for tax professionals
Registered agents: When registering for an AUSkey, use the Australian business number (ABN) of the business entity registered by the Tax Practitioners Board as the registered agent on your application – you must not use the ABN of an associated entity.
If you are not sure which ABN to use, contact the Tax Practitioners BoardExternal Link (TPB) to check which entity is registered.
If you have been issued with multiple registered agent numbers for various branches under the main registration, your AUSkey will be able to access all of these numbers. However, if you are associated with two or more entities that are registered individually, for example, as a company and a sole practitioner, you will need an AUSkey for each entity.
New agent registrations: You will not be able to access the portal using your AUSkey until we have received confirmation of your registration with the TPB.
The TPB will notify us of your registration and we will include you as an approved user. You will receive notification from us when you have initial access to the portal.
AUSkey is a single authentication to access a number of government online services, including our online channels such as the portals. AUSkey identifies the user and the business they are representing when transacting with us online.
