Real property transfers report (RPTR)

State and territory revenue collection agencies and titles offices to report on transfers of real property to us.

Last updated 17 November 2020

State and territory revenue collection agencies and titles offices need to report to us quarterly about transfers of freehold or leasehold interests in real property in their state or territory. This has been happening since 1 July 2016.

Reporters can choose to provide the required data more frequently through monthly reporting.

Your reports should include:

  • property details, including land title information, property address and other descriptors
  • transactional information, including transfer price, contract date and settlement date
  • identity data of the purchaser/transferee and vendor/transferor, including:
    • name, address and date of birth for individuals
    • name, address and Australian business number (ABN), Australian company number (ACN) or Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN) for non-individuals
    • foreign identity details.

This information is provided to the state and territory agencies by solicitors, law firms, conveyancers and self-preparers of property transfers.
