    Before you use this calculator

The calculated results are based on the information you provide at the time of calculation. You should use these results as an estimate and for guidance purposes only.

You can claim work-related expenses you incurred as an employee for a car you:

    • owned (even if it is not registered in your name)
    • leased (even if it is not registered in your name)
    • hired under a hire-purchase agreement.

You need to work out if you are able to claim a deduction for work-related car expenses before using the calculator.

See Car expenses to help you work out your eligibility and entitlement.

The cents per kilometre method uses a set rate for each kilometre travelled for business up to a maximum of 5,000 business kilometres per car, per year.
