Appointment of Kirsten Fish as ATO Second Commissioner

As announcedExternal Link by the Assistant Treasurer, the Hon Michael Sukkar MP, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is pleased to confirm the appointment of Ms Kirsten Fish as a Second Commissioner for the ATO for a seven-year period.

Ms Fish has been acting as Second Commissioner leading the Law Design and Practice Group at the ATO for the past 12 months. Ms Fish was previously the ATO’s Chief Tax Counsel, one of the highest legal authorities within the ATO and head of the Tax Counsel Network, providing technical leadership of significant tax issues, cases and rulings. Prior to joining the ATO, Ms Fish was a tax Partner at Clayton Utz, with a focus on the financial services industry and providing finance and investment transaction advice.

Commissioner of Taxation Mr Chris Jordan welcomes the appointment of Ms Fish to the role of ATO Second Commissioner.

“A strong and capable leader, Ms Fish champions the effective administration of the tax, superannuation and business registration systems,” Mr Jordan said.

“Ms Fish is passionate about building the community’s trust and confidence in the ATO, and is an inspirational leader for ATO staff who value her empathy and integrity.”

Ms Fish’s appointment is effective immediately.
