Prepare for fringe benefits tax time

Last updated 27 March 2023

Request a fringe benefits tax (FBT) client list to check your clients are listed and who needs to lodge. You can request an FBT client list through Practice mail in Online services for agents.

Add new clients to your FBT client list by 21 May 2023 to ensure they are covered by your lodgment program.

The due date to both lodge and pay is:

  • 26 June 2023 if you lodge their FBT return electronically through the practitioner lodgment service (the lodgment program due date of 25 June falls on a weekend this year)
  • 22 May 2023 if you lodge their FBT return by paper (the statutory due date of 21 May also falls on a weekend).

If your clients don't need to lodge an FBT return, notify us as early as possible as processing may take up to 28 days during peak lodgment dates. Send the completed FBT non-lodgment advice form through Practice mail in Online services for agents.

If you are experiencing difficulties and require help with your lodgment program, there are a range of short and longer term support options available. We recommend you contact us before the due date so we can work through suitable options for your practice.
