Privacy notice – Superannuation guarantee charge statement

Privacy notice for completing the Superannuation Guarantee Charge Statement form (NAT 9599) form.

We are authorised by the Taxation Administration Act 1953 and the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 to ask for information on the Superannuation guarantee charge statement – quarterly form (NAT 9599).

We will use this information to help us administer the superannuation laws, including working out any superannuation guarantee charge payable by you. If we do not collect this information, you may not meet your obligations under superannuation laws.

We are authorised by the Taxation Administration Act 1953 to request tax file numbers (TFNs). We will use the TFNs to identify you and your employees in our records. It is not an offence not to provide TFNs. However, if you do not provide the TFNs, we may not be able to identify you or your employees.

If you have an Australian Business Number (ABN), some information on this form is collected for the purpose of the A New Tax System (Australian Business Number) Act 1999. This information may be used to update your details on the Australian Business Register (ABR). Where authorised by law, selected information may be made publicly available and some may be passed to a wide range of federal, state and local government agencies.

We also provide taxpayer information to treaty partners overseas under international tax agreements.

Where authorised by law, we may give this information to other government departments and agencies, including:

  • state and federal police
  • Australian Securities & Investment Commission
  • Australian Prudential Regulation Authority
  • Australian Bureau of Statistics
  • Reserve Bank of Australia.
