Published 14 May 2026

Industry presentation - employer readiness

Council of Small Business Organisations Australia representatives discussed employer readiness for Payday Super, including perspectives from the small business community. Key challenges raised included understanding new obligations, system readiness and the timing of software updates.

The importance of clear, practical guidance to support employers in preparing for commencement was noted.

Employer information requirements

The information employers will need to meet Payday Super requirements, including how information flows through payroll, reporting and payment processes were discussed. Members highlighted the importance of minimising complexity and ensuring information requirements are aligned with existing payroll practices where possible.

Choice of fund rules for stapled super funds

An update was provided on proposed changes to choice of fund rules in the context of Payday Super, including the interaction with existing stapling arrangements. The importance of having clear guidance for employers and employees was discussed to ensure any changes are well understood ahead of implementation.

Payday Super draft correspondence

Draft correspondence intended to support employer awareness and preparedness for Payday Super was reviewed. Feedback focused on the clarity, tone and timing of communications, and the need for messaging to be accessible and action-oriented for different employer cohorts.

Technical working groups

Updates were provided from the technical working groups, including progress across SuperStream and Single Touch Payroll readiness activities. Ongoing engagement with digital service providers was noted and the importance of testing, coordination and information sharing to support end-to-end implementation.
