Payday Super industry readiness

Industry representatives spoke about digital service provider and Gateway operator readiness for Payday Super. Members discussed readiness, challenges and support models ahead of the 1 July 2026 start date.

Employer awareness communications

Plans for an employer awareness email campaign to be issued from mid-April to early May 2026 was outlined. The campaign will provide employers with key information to support their awareness of Payday Super and direct them to ato.gov.au for resources, including checklists, fact sheets and videos.

Communications and engagement approach

An update was provided on the broader communications and engagement approach for Payday Super. We are moving into the ‘take action’ phase from March to June 2026, with tailored messaging for different audiences. A dedicated Payday Super resources page on ato.gov.au has been launched.

SuperStream technical working group

SuperStream readiness activities continue, with a focus on testing, implementation planning and updates to technical artefacts to support Payday Super. Readiness information will inform testing cohorts and ongoing guidance as implementation progresses.

Single Touch Payroll technical working group

An update on STP readiness activities, including testing and updates to technical documentation to support Payday Super implementation was provided. Engagement with digital service providers continues to inform guidance and readiness planning.

Small Business Superannuation Clearing House transition working group

Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) closure transition planning is underway, with a focus on employer awareness and supporting communications for small businesses. Emails to SBSCH users will be sent in batches between 14 February and 18 March 2026.

Other business

Treasury advised that regulations will be made in February. The ATO confirmed that the final Practical Compliance Guideline was published in late January. Members noted the importance of clear guidance for employers on compliance, system interactions and post-implementation processes.
