Reserving a company name is optional. If you aren’t quite ready to register your company, a name reservation can be used to hold your preferred name for a short period. If you are ready to register a company now, a name reservation is not required to register your company.

If we approve your application to reserve a name, we will reserve it for two months. If you wish to extend this period, you will need to apply to extend your name reservation before it expires.

There are some words and phrases that cannot be used in a company's name unless approved by the ABRS or a Government minister. You will need to apply for consent before you can use them.
