The National Tax Clinic program is designed to help individuals, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations who may not be able to afford professional advice and representation with their tax affairs.
Each clinic offers a range of free services and support, including help:
- providing tax advice
- completing current and prior year tax returns
- completing current and outstanding business activity statements
- setting up a payment plan
- with debts or disputes with the ATO.
If your organisation works with vulnerable clients or other not-for-profit organisations, they may be eligible to receive professional help with their tax affairs. Check the list of clinics and their criteria to see if your organisation or your clients are eligible.
The tax clinics are held at universities, in every state and territory across Australia. Students studying tax-related courses at these universities will provide free tax advice and support under the supervision of qualified clinic managers.
Tax clinics may be offered by phone, web conferencing or face-to-face in some locations. Find your nearest tax clinic at ato.gov.au/taxclinic
Note: If your organisation works with clients who typically earn about $60,000 or less and they need a hand lodging their tax return, they may be eligible for the ATO's Tax Help program.
Eligible organisations can access free tax advice and support through the National Tax Clinic program.
