Meet Samantha, Procurement Officer
I’ve always been drawn to work where I can make a real difference. Working in procurement at the ATO allows me to do that every day. I help make sure public money is spent wisely and fairly, by sourcing the right goods and specialist services to support the ATO's work – and ultimately, the Australian community.
No 2 procurement projects are the same, which keeps the work interesting and rewarding. I’ve developed strong skills in planning, evaluation, and contract negotiation, all within a framework that focuses on fairness and value for money.
Since joining the APS, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects. I've learned so much from colleagues who are supportive, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.
If you have a passion for procurement and sourcing, enjoy problem-solving and purposeful work, procurement is a deeply rewarding career path.
Meet Natalie, Contract Manager
As a Contract Manager my work ensures that suppliers deliver high quality services that meet the requirements of the ATO and achieves value for money. A big part of my job is working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers. These strong relationships help the ATO deliver services to the Australian public that align with government policy.
I'm especially passionate about making procurement more inclusive. I've worked to incorporate procurement approaches that focus on supporting more diverse suppliers, including Indigenous-owned businesses, and supported fair briefing practices.
I oversee the performance of panel firms. My work ensures they deliver high-quality services that offer good value-for-money and meet the needs of the ATO and public sector expectations. I also help shape the rules and processes that guide how we manage contracts across the ATO.
A big part of my job is working closely with internal stakeholders and external providers. These strong relationships help us deliver services that meet government goals and respond to changing needs.
For those who are detail-oriented and enjoy working at the intersection of policy, delivering high quality services, and supplier performance, contract management in the ATO is a meaningful and rewarding career choice.
Meet Josh, Finance Director
The most rewarding part of my role is working with business lines to guide them through finance. I get to work closely with business stakeholders to understand their business and ensure they are supported financially. This gives me the opportunity to apply accounting principles in the real-world and contribute to the financial health of Australia’s tax systems.
