Using the fund income tax return instructions

These instructions are not a guide to income tax or superannuation law. If these instructions don't fully cover the fund's circumstances, contact us or a registered tax adviser.

These instructions only cover:

  • Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) regulated funds.
  • Non-regulated superannuation funds.
  • Pooled superannuation trusts (PSTs).

The instructions and form may refer more generally to funds other than where a more specific mention of an entity type is warranted.

When we refer to ‘you’ in these instructions, we are referring to you either as:

  • the trustee of the fund
  • the tax agent or trustee responsible for completing the tax return.

These instructions don't cover reporting obligations for superannuation that, where required, must be reported separately.
