Audio Grab 1: From the first of July 2025, interest charged by the ATO for late or underpayments will no longer be tax deductible. If you have a debt with the ATO, now is the time to pay.

Audio Grab 2: ATO general interest charge is currently charged at 11.17% and compounds daily. So, if you have a debt with the ATO, now is the time to pay, or reach out to your accountant or finance provider to discuss all your options.

If you’re unable to pay the ATO in full or on time, it’s important to contact us here at the ATO or speak your registered tax agent. You may be able to set up a payment plan.
