SuperStream Contributions v3.0 – is your fund ready?

SuperStream Contributions v3.0 introduces critical changes that support Payday Super.

Last updated 16 April 2026

SuperStream Contributions v3.0External Link underpins Payday Super, enabling shorter timeframes and higher contribution volumes. While SuperStream Contributions v3.0 introduces important technical upgrades, it is not just a system build.

Key changes include:

Clearer, validated error messaging

Error handling is a key focus area of the upgrade. Systems will need to generate structured, consistent and actionable error messages, and validate them before sending. Gateways may reject poorly formed messages, increasing the reliance on accurate error messages to resolve issues quickly.

Member verification request (MVR)

MVR is a new service that allows employers to verify whether a fund can accept a contribution before the first payment is made. It is a key system improvement aimed at reducing the number of errors that funds will need to process once contributions are received. By building the MVR, you will support employers to meet their 7 business day timeframe but also reduce the administration and time required in-house for error handling.

The MVR validates account eligibility before a contribution is made, reducing first touch errors and downstream operational effort.

Funds are expected to respond to MVRs within 24 hours from 1 July 2026.

Near real time payments through the New Payments Platform (NPP)

From 1 July 2026, all funds must be capable of receiving employer contributions via the NPP. NPP enables:

  • near instant payments
  • closer alignment of payment and data
  • shorter reconciliation windows.

Finance and registry teams need to understand how these payments appear on bank statements, payment reference numbers, and reconciliation impacts.

Funds should engage now with banks, administrators and gateways to test NPP payment flows.

Fund Validation Service changes

Updates to the Fund Validation Service also support faster processing and fewer errors. A new version will replace the current service from 1 July 2026.

Funds that don’t adopt the updated service will increase the risk of errors.
