We are authorised by the Taxation Administration Act 1953 to ask for tax file numbers (TFNs). We will use the TFNs to identify you and if applicable, other entities on behalf of which you are authorised to lodge this return (the Group Entities). It is not an offence not to provide your TFN, but if you don’t, there may be a delay in processing your Combined Global and Domestic Minimum tax return (CGDMTR).
We are authorised by the Taxation Administration Act 1953 to collect your personal information. We collect some personal information about you because you are the authorised contact for the Designated Local Entity or Group Entity. If applicable, we also collect some personal information about the authorised contacts of the Group Entities that you are lodging the CGDMTR on behalf of. That information will allow us to check that you have the authority to complete the CGDMTR and to contact you or the Group Entities you are lodging on behalf of if we need more information. If the information is not collected, we may be unable to process your CGDMTR.
If you have an Australian Business Number (ABN), some information on this return may be collected under the A New Tax System (Australian Business Number) Act 1999 and may be used to update your details on the Australian Business Register (ABR). Where authorised by law, selected information may be made publicly available and some may be passed to a wide range of government agencies, including Commonwealth, state and local government agencies.
Where authorised by law, we may give this information to other government departments and agencies, including:
- Services Australia
- Australian Bureau of Statistics
- Law Enforcement Agencies.
