Away over the holiday period? Put a plan in place to meet obligations

Over the holidays, contributions still need to reach your employees' super funds within 7 business days after payday.

Published 4 November 2026

Holidays don't pause Payday Super contributions, and they don't change their due dates. When preparing for the Christmas and New Year period, it's important to think about what happens if a payday falls while key staff are away. If the person responsible for payroll or super is on leave, you'll still need to have arrangements in place to pay super contributions and address any issues that arise.

Planning ahead now can help avoid disruptions and keep your payroll and super obligations on track while staff are away. To help you with this, before the holiday period confirm:

  • whether any paydays will occur while key staff are on leave
  • who will manage payroll and super obligations while they're away
  • staff responsible for super understand key contribution timeframes
  • there are processes in place to resolve any Payday Super errors.
