Breaking news and significant outcomes in the fight against tax crime.

Last updated 24 July 2017

Efforts by the ATO and our partner agencies to tackle tax crime continue to pay off with successful prosecutions that deter criminal behaviour and enable us to collect tax that is properly owed to the Australian community.

The collaborative approach continues under the Serious Financial Crime Taskforce, which began operating on 1 July 2015. This cross-agency taskforce builds on the success of Project Wickenby, which led to over $2.2 billion in tax liabilities being raised. It also increased tax collections from improved compliance behaviour following high profile investigations, prosecutions and sentencings.
