On Monday 27 July, 2:00 pm AEST, AusAlert will send a nationwide test alert to mobile devices. This includes most phones and some smart watches and tablets.
What to expect
Your device will:
- vibrate
- make a siren-like sound for about 10 seconds
- display a test text message.
What you need to do
The test alert will happen automatically.
If the alert could make you or a family member feel unsafe, you can:
- turn your device off, or
- use aeroplane mode.
Why this is happening
AusAlert is a new national emergency warning system.
In an emergency, it will send alerts to tell you:
- what's happening, and
- what you need to do.
