Pre-filling your private health insurance tax offset details

Last updated 28 June 2011

The pre-filing service will enable you to download your private health insurance tax offset details directly into e-tax.

The pre-filled details will include:

  • type of cover
  • health insurer ID
  • membership number
  • maximum claimable tax offset (after premium reductions) (G)
  • the amount of rebate received from Medicare.

This information will assist in the completion of item T5.

If the pre-filing system is unavailable, e-tax cannot pre-fill your tax return for you. You can either enter your details manually or try to use the pre-filling service later. For details about when the service may be available again, see Pre-filling initiatives - e-tax.
