We’ve now issued two draft Public Advice and Guidance (PAG) rulings addressing changes to how we define total superannuation balance (TSB) and the new concept of TSB value.
These are:
- Draft Tax Ruling TR 2026/D3 Total superannuation balance (LINK) outlining how an individual’s TSB is calculated
- Draft Law Companion Ruling LCR 2026/D6 Total superannuation balance value (LINK) outlining how to calculate the TSB value of a superannuation interest. (Noting that the TSB value of each relevant superannuation interest is included in the calculation of the individual’s TSB).
These draft Rulings seek to provide clarity and certainty to individuals, superannuation funds and other stakeholders on TSB and TSB value.
We invite your feedback on both PAGs. Simply send your comments and observations to the contact clearly listed in the draft docs linked above. You can also encourage your contacts, including other funds and industry organisations, to give us their perspective.
You’ve got until XX November to have your say.
On top of this, we’re preparing two draft rulings for Division 296 tax and we’ll let you know when public consultation commences, these are:
- Draft Law Companion Ruling on relevant superannuation earnings for interests other than prescribed interests
- Draft Companion Ruling on relevant superannuation earnings for prescribed interests.
